Meet the team
Anna-Marie Tamayo
Programmer
Anna-Marie was born and raised in the tiny fishing village of Obando just north of Manila (Philippines) and currently lives and works in Chicago.
In the third grade, her teacher gave her a yellow and white ribbon award that said "Most Curious" and Anna-Marie clearly remembers wondering what the word meant. But curious she was as it led her to a career path that is sometimes hard to explain (even to herself). She once knew everything there was to know about rice having started as a proofreader for the International Rice Research Institute, a job that led to more work in publications as an editor and even a brief but memorable stint as graphic designer. Her move over to technology came to her a few years later while she was at a project working as a technical writer for a drafting software that was competing with AutoCAD. Working with developers and designers both inspired and infuriated her, what with the propensity to use n-letter acronyms, the ambigous, terse and often deliberately confusing vocabulary of the Nerdery. The language of code so mystified her that she went back to school to learn it and this is what she does now as a developer for Webitects. Anna-Marie works primarily in .net but has roots in Smalltalk and is now learning Ruby and Rails.
Anna-Marie is a secret agent at 826 Chicago and is a principal member of the creative bunch at Kaimito Studio.
